  • Ignace de Lino Chalmette (1755-1815)
A Revolutionary War patriot, [Ignace de Lino] Chalmette’ was born in New Orleans and was a wealthy and respected citizen who purchased a plantation downriver from the city. This land was largely where the Battle of New Orleans was fought on January 8, 1815. He died a month after the victorious battle with his property in ruins.
